This blog was a little different. I dont really know if i like it because im actually used to respondig to some sort of question. What i will tak about is how important it is to get a grasp on yourself as a writer. Before this class I had no clue as to waht my flaws were when it came to writing, but in this class i was able to find those out and begin to repair them. The class helped me become a better writer because it put me in the situations that would better prepare me. Writing is a huge part of college as i have already found out. In everyone of my classes i have been asked to write some sort of paper so i have already had aot of practice. This class only let me get better in the fiel of writing and prepared me for my future here at elon. I am glad that i had to tak this class and i think that it is important for freshman to take it.

Blog#2o
Dear freshman,
The English 110 is a class that I am glad they make us take. Yea I mean it sucks that you have a class that is strictly about writing, but it is a class that I think has helped me become a better writer. The class is something that can give a college freshman an upper hand on writing papers. I know that I wasn’t as ready as I needed to be at writing papers when I entered this fall, so this class was able to give me that little bit of knowledge that I didn’t know already. I think that the class does a good job of giving you different forms of writing so that you can be prepared for the different ways. The class helps you think about the way you prepare, study and write your papers. You can plan ahead by getting help from the writing center which I wish I would have done more often, or get to know your own flaws as a writer. The hardest thing about the class will be the projects just because it is time consuming, but the one thing that I learned was to not procrastinate because it can really affect your grade. The blogs yea just do them all because in the end it will help your grade and I mean there not that bad so just do them. Have fun in the class and take it serious because it can help you if you really want it to.

The multi-genre project is a different project, and that’s exactly why I like it. I think that it’s cool and I wish that all the writing assignments were this good. It isn’t the normal paper it gives me the opportunity to be creative and do different examples of writing. I am learning different things through these paper things like having different dates and times to turn things in. The project is also helping me get a different grasp on different forms of writing. It also teaches me to be creative in my ways of creating the different genres and things. It has been a little challenging but not too bad. The one thing that has been challenging is the different genres and picking which ones that I should use and in what format we should use. As a writer I have noticed that I really like writing things other than papers, because I have actually enjoyed this project because I didn’t have to write an actual paper. As a researcher I found out that I’m not too good at it. I have found that it is hard for me to find accurate information that I can use. The one thing that I have learned about my topic is that there has been a small increase in teacher pay but really not enough to really make a difference. Also I learned that there are less and less people entering the field and by a certain year there could possibly be to many kids compared to the number of teachers that we have.

This semester had some different types of writing assignments. The one that I thought was the best was the letter. I thought it was a good idea, to get to write to a set of people and express my different ideas and opinions on a topic that I thought was important to me. The letter was better in ways that I could be myself and talk in a way that I wanted to and not have to worry about not using me or I. The one assignment that I really disliked was the comparison of the scholarly article and the popular article. In this assignment it was hard for me to really make the comparison. I didn’t enjoy it at all. The assignment didn’t allow me to voice my opinion at all, and this is something that I really like doing when writing papers. The thing that I enjoyed most about the in class assignments was when we were allowed to work in groups and get other people’s opinions on our papers. This allowed me to meet other college people and see how they think I should write my papers, this helped me a little more than a professors opinion. Blog # 15
This exercise was very helpful to me. I was able to read the examples and compare it to my writing, showing me how i was wrong. Although i had a lot of different errors that i struggle with the two that really stood out to me was the use of infinitives and fused sentences(run on sentences). Reading the rules of these two problems of mine I came up with my own personal definitions to help better myself. Infinitives, to me what its saying is when you have your sentense dont add in any other words to make it sound smarter, because this will only confuse the reader. Run on sentences this to me is basically saying when writing a sentence I need to make sure that i use appropriate punctuation so that the sentence just doesnt keep going and going. Ways that I will control these errors is by carefully reading over my paper so that I make sure theres no awkward reading. Also have another peer or workers from the writing center proof read my papers before submition. Using the book and looking over the rules again can and will also be a way that I can revise my paper.

The Rosie the Rivetor poster has lots of meaning behind it. The poster was a jump starter to American Women today. Rosie is a strong women, a woment that can do her own thing and doesnt need anyone to back her up.. She is a strong woman that canwork a shift and still come home to care of her family. The poster was a war time thing that was made to get woman in the work force so that our industries could provide wartime needs. The poster says it all without words. It says that a woman is just as able to do the things in the work field as a man is. The blue collar shirt represents all the hard workers in America and the hard work that they do, Rosie is wearing one showing that the blue collar work field can be just as much hers as it is anybody elses. Flexing of the muscles has way of suggesting that a woman is strong, strong enough to put in a hard days work and strong enough to take care of herself if needed. Rosie still has her femine features and wants that not to be taken from her, she is a lady and wants to be treated as but just know that she is also a worker someone who can get the job done. We can do it printed at the top inbold letters says it all it tells the rest of the nation that women are capable of the work loads and at the same time its campaigning to others so that they too can join the work force as a lady.

Yesterday I wrote down al the times that Idid someform of writing in and I came up with lots of different times. I first got started writing yesterday at about nine in the morning and continued writing the reswt of the day. At 9 am I finished up the last little bit of a paper that was due in my History class. 10:40 am i wrote out my review for the letter that was due in college writing. 11:30 finished up a works cited page, 12:30 started taking notes in my history class.At 2:00 posted a comment on facebook. 2:30 wrote up the new plays that are offense put in. 3:00 wrote up notes in a football meeting. 7:30 started writing notes on notecards in study hall. 8:00 wrote out a blog for college writing. 8:30 finished writing out schedule for fall semester. 9:00 wrote a post on facebook, and the last thing that i wrote last night was i signed a receipt at the gas station. Writing plays a large role in my life. I never really thought about it but it seems that i am always writing something and you dont catch it until your thinking about it. I seem to write alot moreby hand when it comes to taking notes or writing stuff down, but i also do a lot of typing like with papers and comments on facebook. I would rather type things out because I think it looks better. My writing is more for academic reasons but I will say that i do a lot of personal writing due to facebook and myspace. Writing has a big part in my day and like I said I never really noticed it ever before.
